Linda Foss

Obituary of Linda J. Foss

From her earthly home and the arms of her loved ones, on May 5, 2021, Linda Jeanette Foss, was warmly embraced by the arms of Jesus.

Our world was given the gift of our beautiful, loving mother on October 4, 1948. Born to Myrtle and Archie Gould in the quaint town of Woodstock, NB Canada. Her brother Roger Gould would soon follow and make their family complete. Their sweet family of four would make their way south to the town of Kittery, Maine.

It was at Traip Academy in Kittery that Linda (mom) met her high school sweet-heart and husband of fifty-four years, our dad, Roland Foss, Jr. who she leaves behind along with her sweetest golden doodle, Lucie.

Soon after their marriage mom became a naturalized citizen and they started a family of their own and navigated the ups and downs of life side-by-side. Linda leaves behind four children, Adrienne Chandler Martin, of Bangor, Alison Reed, of Hermon, Annette DeRoche, of Glenburn, and Chip Foss of Orono. She also leaves behind their spouses that she loved as if they were her own children, Ray Martin, Doug Reed, Bob DeRoche, and Michelle Foss.  She leaves behind her pride and joy, eight beautiful grandchildren, Luke Chandler, Allexis Martin, Alexis, Brady and Corban Reed, Kelsea and Robbie DeRoche, and Eden Foss.  She enjoyed her family immensely and her greatest desire was that we would all love and care for each other and always remain close.

Family trips were among her favorite things to do, and we have many beautiful, sweet memories to cherish.  Her destination of choice was Short Sands Beach in York, but any trip to the Maine coast or to see the beautiful ocean, put a smile on her face.

Linda (Mom) was kind and always wanted people to feel comfortable and welcomed. She would rather be uncomfortable herself than someone else. If there was a single quality character trait that mom exemplified, it would be faithfulness. She certainly exhibited love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control, but she was fiercely FAITHFUL, to her children, her husband, her work, her church, and her God.

Linda worked twenty-five years as the Bookkeeper at Bangor Baptist Church and took great pride in her job and was very meticulous in her work. She not only saw her job as work but she saw it as ministry. Throughout her lifetime she served in numerous ways in church ministry and in the community. While the last seven years her heart condition slowed her down, she still served her family and grandchildren so beautifully and would do whatever she could to show God’s love through her loving ways. While she was limited in her activities over the last few years, she reserved her energy for her grandchildren’s sporting events, church, and her lunch dates with her most special friends.

We are left with a gaping hole in our hearts, but we know that Linda’s (mom) legacy lives on through our lives and testimonies. We also have the blessed assurance that her faith was real and she trusted in her Creator and walked in a steadfast relationship with Him. We know that today mom is with those who have gone to heaven before her, including her parents and brother, and we also know she will be waiting for us to join her when we are called home, just as God so lovingly called her. Until then, we will do our best to remain faithful and serve God through her devoted example.

In lieu of flowers or gifts dad has asked for donations to be given to Haitian Ministries in honor of mom, which is a ministry that was near and dear to her heart. You can send a check, in her honor, to Haitian Ministries, 947 Grant Rd, Kenduskeag, ME 04450 or you can give at www.haitianministries.us
