Obituary of Jackie Carl Fenton

Bangor - Jackie C. Fenton, 74, died peacefully January 19, 2024 surrounded by family following a brief illness. He was born on August 14, 1949 in Jonesport to the late, Clarence C. and Eunice (Bryant) Fenton.

He attended Jonesport High School where he played basketball and baseball.  He joined the US Coast Guard at the age of 16. After completion of his service he sailed for Mobil and ARCO as a pumpman for 20 years. He was part of the crew of the oil tanker the ARCO Juneau that was the first ship to access the Alaskan Pipeline in 1977. This ship took the first load of crude oil from Alaska to the West Coast. His love for the sea didn’t end as a merchant marine. He fished commercially on the Atlantic Ocean out of Jonesport for over 30 years. He loved playing cards with his friends and going to the casino. He enjoyed spending time with family at the cottage on Sandy River Beach and looked forward to seeing family in the summer during the Moosabec Summerfest. 

He is survived by two daughters; Kersten (Fenton) Noyes of Bangor and her children, Parker and Hannah, Justine and her husband, Nick Buscanera of Wiscasset and daughters Sophia and Lilliana. Sons, Shawn and Marie Johnson of Jonesport and their children Shawn Johnson Jr, Nathaniel, and Isaiah; Zachary Fenton of Jonesport and Connor Fenton of East Machias. He will surely be missed by Linda Fenton, with whom he spent over 30 years.

His brothers Dana and wife Ruth Fenton of Jonesport, and Dale and Lynell of Scarborough. Sisters, Christine Fenton of Addison and Lynne Kirby of Jonesport. He was predeceased by one brother, Clarence Fenton, Jr and a sister Charmaine.  

A private celebration of his life is planned for the summer.
