Obituary of Joseph Manuel Nunez
BRADFORD, Maine - Joseph "Joe" Nunez, 75, of Bradford, Maine, passed away on November 5, 2023, after a heroic struggle with metastatic prostate cancer.
Born on March 11, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey, Joe was the beloved son of Jose Raymond Nunez and Marie Louise Nunez (Romero.) In his heart, he was always a "Jersey boy" and spoke kindly of his parents.
Joe was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1968 after serving at the Presidio in Monterey, California. His most cherished employment was as a mental health worker for those with significant mental health challenges, providing care in Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine.
Joe is survived by his loving significant other, Kathleen M Bernard, his brother David F. Nunez of New Jersey and his family, his Northern Light Hospice family, and his devoted dog Zero.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Laurence E. Crofutt Community Room of the Bangor Public Library in honor of his profound love of reading.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah or to the Bangor Humane Society, a gesture that would greatly please his dog-loving soul.
