Death Certificates
A Certified Death Certificate is necessary before anything can be done. In Maine, death certificates are filed with the state by a Funeral Director. Certified copies can be obtained from the clerk in the town/city of death or the town/city of residence. The cost is $15 for the first copy and $6 for each additional copy.
