Obituary of Diana Jane Wakefield
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Diana Wakefield a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend who died peacefully on July 31, 2026. She was born on October 9, 1946 in Ashland, Maine.
Diana built a life full of family and faith. She worked as a housekeeper at Keddy’s Motor Inn in Presque Isle for years before starting her own cleaning business in Connecticut. She gave over the years to various charities and devoted many years to the church at St. Mary’s in Presque Isle and then at St. Vincent’s in Bucksport as a eucharistic minister. Her faith and family were very important to her. She will forever be remembered for her love of dancing the “jig” and playing cards with family as well as crocheting blankets for those who could use them.
She is survived by her daughters Yvonne Yeargin and Stacie Ellis-Gross; grandchildren Bethanie and Cassidy Yeargin, Hunter and Shelby Gross; great grandchildren Autumn and Lilly; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Percy and Meddie Wakefield; siblings Percy Wakefield Jr, Joyce Orfo, Joseph Voisine, Phyllis Wakefield, and Sylvia Paradis, Cousin Camille Wakefield and great grandson Wesley.
A Service will be held at St.Vincent’s Church in Bucksport on August 28, 2026 at 4pm and a graveside service on September 12, 2026 at 1 pm at Fairview Cemetery in Perham. Donations can be made in her name to the Maine Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association.
